Existing evidence suggests that shrimp cultivation is likely to damage a number of child rights, but very little research has been completed on the specific effects of the industry on children’s lives. This research begins to fill this gap by exploring the nature, determinants and effects of children’s work within the shrimp industry. It is prompted by Save the Children Fund UK’s commitment to promoting the child rights outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
