ACPF, African Child Policy Forum
Launched at the Africa Day, a new Scorecard that ranks 52 African governments’ performance in budgeting for their children, reveals not only a continent of sharp contrasts in terms of the region’s investment in children, but also the wide gap that exists between what governments have promised in international and regional commitments, and what they are prioritising and delivering in their budgets. It looks at how far governments are budgeting for children, and living up to their commitments on social protection of Africa’s vulnerable children, Early Childhood Development, Health and Education. Tanzania, Mozambique and Niger score highest, while the least committed countries are Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Sierra Leone, Angola, Burundi and the Central African Republic.
