Around the globe, youth are finding creative ways to prevent violence and consolidate peace, both in conflict zones and relatively peaceful areas. Yet, they are often excluded from peace initatives on an institutional level. They are widely seen as an obstacle to peace, rather than an important agent to help faciliate it.
This report presents the progress that has been made in response to Security Council resolution 2250. Young people were actively engaged in the making of this study, and substantial efforts were made to include youth who usually are not consulted in these type of processes, such as refugees, former gang members, and those living in remote areas. As a whole, consultations were made with 4,230 young people.
A more extensive version of this study will be released in the course of 2018.
