IOM, International Organization for Migration
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has released this global review of the emerging evidence on migrant smuggling. It shows a unique perspective on the current evidence and data on migrant smuggling and what can be done to build on the existing evidence base. This includes gaps in knowledge relating to migration patterns and process linked to migrant smuggling, including its impact on migrants.
The report also examines the case of children in the act of migrant smuggling. This includes children travelling alone, children gone missing or disappearing, and the extent of their exploitation. Many questions are raised for further research and exploration.
