Mental health of displaced and refugee children resettled in low-income and middle-income countries: risk and protective factors

A two-part study published in the Lancet, which stresses the need for high-income countries and international agencies to contribute towards the funding of mental health interventions for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. According to the report, globally an estimated 18 million children are forcibly displaced as a result of conflict, and each year only about half a million seek asylum in countries with high-income economies. Despite low-income and middle-income countries taking in most of the world’s refugees, research has focused on those who have resettled in high-income countries.The report concludes with research and policy recommendations to guide the development and assessment of effective interventions.
