Climate crises and conflicts are the two main drivers of rural-urban migration. Children are increasingly migrating from rural to urban areas to avoid climate threats. The research aimed to explore the drivers and experiences of migrating children and their families from rural areas to urban towns; and how urban areas have adapted to the influx of migrating children and their families because of climate-related risks. This report presents the findings of drivers and experiences of migrating children and their families from rural areas to Garissa town. In addition, the report highlights the effects of climate-induced migration on children’s and families’ access to basic services. Rural-urban migrants are faced with a lack of essential services. Children are faced with a combination of challenges in terms of access to essential services and opportunities at their destination including lack of quality health services; absence of access to clean water; lack of access to quality & inclusive education; and lack of access to clean toilets/washing facilities.
