ECPAT International together with its partner organizations in Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico coordinated a research to study the commercial sexual exploitation of boys (with special focus on trafficking) in the region. The dynamics of commercial sexual exploitation involve a complex interplay of psychological, social, cultural, economic and political factors that play a role in the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and youth, and more research needs to be done on this issue to ensure a better protection for the victims. In Chile, the research focuses on the particularities of the commercial sexual exploitation of boys, giving specific focus to child trafficking for sexual purposes. The research is based on interviews with children, other relevant stakeholders and key informants.
