Malaria Eradication: Benefits, future scenarios and feasibility

Malaria is a disease of the most vulnerable – the very young and the poor. Every year, there are about 219 million cases of the disease and over 400 000 deaths. More than half of these deaths are children under the age of five. Given these numbers, the eradication of malaria would have a tremendously beneficial impact on the world’s most vulnerable populations. However, there is a need for a massive and coordinated action to reach this goal. 

This report presents the promises and challenges of eradicating malaria in the coming years. It also provides recommendations for what an effective malaria eradication strategy could look like.
