The Making of Sexual Violence: How does a boy grow up to commit rape?

This report adds to current research on physical and/or sexual violence by a partner or non/partner in a woman’s life time. This report investigates the prevalence of sexual violence perpetration, risk and protective factors among men in five studies of the International Men and Gender Equality Survey. It also uses data from low- and middle-income countries gathered from men’s reports of perpetrating violence against women.

As a result, this study identifies influential factors that could lead the way for policies and programs to prevent violence before it happens and to mitigate the effects, which are both endemic in times of peace as well as conflict.
