This briefing was developed as part of a series on child marriage and accountability detailing lessons-learned from Save the Children programming around the world. It details a multi-component programme delivered with the Government of Nepal, working in partnership with child advocates, religious leaders and their communities in nine districts in mid- and far-West Nepal. The programme seeks to improve reporting mechanisms and raise awareness for accountability. Since 2015:

• rates of child marriage have decreased by 16% across the nine districts

• child marriages have been prevented thanks to more than 360 complaints from the public

• 142 public hearings have been held on marriage laws and the consequences of child marriage.
