At the end of 2019, approximately 45.7 million people were internally displaced due to conflict and violence. Nearly half were estimated to be children. In many countries around the world, these children lack access to essential services, which deprives them of their right to education, health, protection and non-discrimination. In addition to this, the global spread of COVID-19 threatens to further impact their lives.
This report provides the latest data on internal displacement around the world. It also presents the risks and challenges internally displaced children face, as well as the urgent actions needed to protect them.
