The Solomon Islands are very vulnerable to disasters, and are expected to lose approximately US$20 million every year due to events such as earthquakes and tropical cyclones. Localization of disaster response and risk management is an important issue in the country, influenced by a history of conflict and international interference.
This report explores the progress made on the localization of humanitarian action in the Solomon Islands, providing key insights on where more efforts are needed. It includes facts and figures to provide a basis for discussion in and between humanitarian organizations working in this context.
