Save the Children’s Literacy Boost program was implemented as a pilot program in Kailali, a district in the far-western region of Nepal, in April 2009, the start of the school year. The program was implemented in 16 schools and approximately 52 communities located in Bouniya and Kotatilsipur village development communities in partnership with Backward Society Education (BASE). This study reports on the characteristics of students who could not be located at endline; the observed difference in learning during the 2011-2012 school year between Literacy Boost and comparison students; and reporting on students in Early Child Development (ECD) programs.
