Save the Children’s Literacy Boost program began implementation in Kailali, a district in the far-western region of Nepal, in April 2009 at the start of the school year. The program was implemented in 16 schools and approximately 52 communities located in Bouniya and Kotatilsipur village development communities, in partnership with Backward Society Education (BASE). Literacy Boost in Nepal has six main activities: book banks, teacher training, reading buddies, L2 to L1 adult literacy classes, community workshops and reading camps.
This 2-page briefer reviews the impact results from the first year of Literacy Boost in Nepal.
