This report examines the results of a follow-up student background survey and reading assessment conducted in October 2013 as part of Save the Children’s (SC’s) Literacy Boost program in partnership with World Vision Burundi. The survey and reading assessment sought to include as many of the 549 learners assessed during an October 2012 baseline as possible. Thus, this October 2013 midline was able to assess 458 learners throughout 28 schools in the Cankuzo and Muyaga Area Development Programs (ADPs) of World Vision Burundi. The 28 schools were randomly divided into 14 primary schools that have received one year of the Literacy Boost Community Action component, and 14 comparison primary schools that received no Literacy Boost intervention.
