Save the Children International
Case Study Series to Showcase how Play has been Integrated into Save the Children Programming
The importance of play for children is well-established and a strong part of Save the Children’s mission and programming. Yet rarely do Save the Children staff engage in play themselves. In order to truly embody our mission and live our values, Save the Children staff should not perceive play as a ‘children’s activity’ – but rather as something that we all can and should engage in regularly.
Play builds creativity, improves well-being and helps us feel connected– all of these benefits are important for staff who are often living and working in a high-paced environment with stress-inducing and adverse conditions. Moreover, the more we play, the more we know how to play– helping each staff member to become a play champion in their own families and communities while strengthening professional activities engaging children in play through regular programming.
