LEARNING BRIEF | USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project: Management of Emergency Maternal and Newborn Health Care Complications at Public Health Facilities

Standard maternal and newborn health (MNH) complication case management at emergency units calls for initial stabilization of all cases and referral to inpatient wards of hospitals or to other facilities for further management. This brief summarizes USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project’s (MaMoni MNCSP) support to the Government of Bangladesh to design and implement a systematic protocol for identification, triaging, management, and referral of maternal and newborn complications present at hospital emergency units of public facilities.
