Launch Webinar: How to Analyze, Track and Influence Public Budgets for Children’s Rights

As part of the How to Child Rights Series, this webinar marked the launch of the guidance How to Analyze, Track and Influence Public Budgets for Children’s Rights, authored by Lubna Iskandar. The event brought together civil society organizations, child rights practitioners, advocates, and development partners from around the world to explore how public budgeting can serve as a powerful tool for advancing children’s rights. 

The webinar featured opening remarks by Yasmeen Shariff, Lawyer and Child Rights Advocate and Elected Member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) for the 2027–2031 term, followed by a presentation of the guidance by its author and reflections from practitioners across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East on applying child rights-based budget analysis and advocacy in their respective contexts. The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Cephas Lumina, Member of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), who highlighted the importance of investing in children through transparent, accountable, and rights-based public budgeting. 

The guidance comprises three practical tools that support civil society organizations and other stakeholders in analyzing, tracking, and influencing public budgets through a child rights lens. It is available in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.
