This report contains an overview of the juvenile justice system in Uganda, raises some key child protection issues and gives a report of the conditions of detention for young people in terms of nutrition, facilities, discipline, education, healthcare and community reintegration. It makes 34 recommendations on how to improve practice, particularly calling for an independent auditor to make routine reviews of the facilities. In addition, the report highlights some good practice.
