The impacts of the pandemic is unequivocally unequal. The poorest are more vulnerable to the economic, health and learning support shocks of the pandemic. Additionally, the policies to limit COVID-19’s transmission are imposing unequal burdens, exacerbating inequality and poverty. The pandemic is negatively impacting children as the support for effective practices and access to formal learning is considerably weakened for the youngest of the poor.
The aim of this paper is to draw attention to key aspects of the current situation, its complications and the opportunities inherent in its resolution.
