According to data from 2014, 33.8% of the El Salvadorian population was under the age of 18. This percentage corresponds to 2,163,676 children and youth. Realising these statistics, it is especially important that El Salvadorian authorities are complicit with the Convention of the Rights of the Child, as well as actively counteracting neglect and violence perpetrated against children and youth within the state. This document is an investigation of the public authorities’ compliance with the obligation they owe children and youth as outlined by the Convention of the Rights of the Child. The report was submitted to the United Nations, during the examination of the Fifth and Sixth Periodic Report of the State of El Salvador.
