An estimated 3.7 million Syrian children – 1 in 3 of all Syrian children – have been born since the conflict began five years ago. Their lives are shaped by violence, fear and displacement, according to No Place for Children, a new UNICEF report. UNICEF verified nearly 1,500 grave violations against children in 2015 and found that more than one-third of children were killed or maimed while in school, or on their way to or from school. With this report, UNICEF presents an overview of the heavy toll that the conflict is having on Syria’s children. The report also brings forwards those who have faced challenges and championed the humanitarian response in the region.
