I am Digital is a practical learning guide developed under the Safe from Harm on the Internet through Empowerment, Learning, and Dialogue (SHIELD) Project, a collaboration between Save the Children Thailand and ECPAT Foundation Thailand, with support from Save the Children Hong Kong. The guide aims to strengthen children’s, adolescents’, parents’, and educators’ knowledge and skills in promoting safe, responsible, and respectful digital engagement.
The publication covers essential topics including digital citizenship, digital footprints, online privacy and security, respectful online communication, cyberbullying prevention and response, online sexual exploitation and abuse, media literacy, misinformation and online scams, digital wellbeing, and guidance for parents and caregivers. It also addresses the unique online safety challenges faced by vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities and those affected by gender inequality, while emphasizing children’s rights, inclusion, and safeguarding in digital spaces. Practical tips, real-life scenarios, reflective questions, and referral information are provided to encourage critical thinking, safe online behaviors, and help-seeking. By promoting digital literacy alongside child protection principles, the guide seeks to empower children and the adults supporting them to create safer, more inclusive, and more respectful online communities.
