A Road Map for moving forward, in the framework of international standards on children’s rights in South America, following the I South American Gathering on the Follow-up to the recommendations of UN Study on Violence against children, held 28-29 April 2011 in Asunción, Paraguay. The two-day event convened by the Paraguayan Ministry for Children and the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the Global Movement for Children (MMI-CLAC), was attended by civil society and high-level governmental representatives from the region. The formal approval of the Road Map will guide the States in the implementation of the three priority recommendations (1, 2 and 11) already marked for the region, which are to: strengthen national and local commitment and action, coordinated by an agency with the capacity to involve multiple sectors in a broad-based implementation strategy; strengthen legal frameworks; and strengthen data collection and research.
