Save the Children Sweden
On December 7, 2010 Save the Children Sweden – in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden, the Zambian Global Compact Network and UNICEF – hosted a high level forum to discuss child rights and the private sector. The meeting, which brought together participants from the private sector, civil society, government and academia, involved the sharing of innovations by business to contribute to the development of their communities. Discussions were held on new technologies, health and nutrition partnerships and the respective roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders in addressing development goals. Participants were urged to motivate key civil society and public and private actors to work in partnership to address child rights and development in Zambia. The forum was held in the framework of the UNICEF, the UN Global Compact and Save the Children joint endeavour to develop a set of Principles offering concrete guidance on what business can do to respect and support children’s rights.
