Plan International
In pursuit of uncovering the truth about being a girl, Plan International interviewed over 7,000 girls and boys across four regions: Asia, Central and South America, Eastern and Southern Africa, and West Africa. The study uncovered the daily realities that girls face; adolescent girls in all countries essentially do not see themselves as having rights.
Albeit things are slowly improving for girls, many still suffer intolerable hardships. They are working daily to help themselves, improve their lives and create a better future. The evidence from this study shows how girls in the poorest regions of the world are among the most disadvantaged people on the planet. Issues such as early marriage, pregnancy, advocacy, violence, etc. are broken down and introduced from the aggregated responses of the participants.
The summary report is accompanied by a technical report as well as in-depth overviews of each region covered in the main report.
