The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) together with the King Hussein Research Foundation and the International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation have undertaken research in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and the Kurdish Region of Iraq to better understand the needs, aspirations and challenges facing displaced and local community youth between the ages of 15 and 24.
The study uncovered a generation of young people from Syria and refugee-hosting countries who face many extreme barriers to realizing their futures, such as: insecurity, poverty, trouble accessing education and economic opportunities, limited changes to engage in social and civic activities.
In order to avoid a lost generation, the NRC and partners have put together a list of recommendations for local governments and the international aid community.
