This mini-feature, a set of five articles published by Forced Migration, explores the practice of FGM in the context of asylum in Europe. FGM is the practice of Female Genital Mutilation, also known as FGM/C – female genital mutilation/cutting.

Each article explores a different issue related to FGM/C: from its medicalisation to how countries in Europe should treat asylum seekers who are applying on the basis of FGM/C. These articles reveal the very real and present issue of FGM/C for European policy makers and programme designers in prevention and combating violence against women.
