ECPAT International has published its latest journal (ECPAT Journal Series No. 7), which examines neglected elements in combating the sexual exploitation of children. These include: understanding demand for the commercial sexual exploitation of children; engaging men and boys in the prevention of commercial child sexual exploitation; and addressing the physical and psychological consequences and recovery of child victims of commercial sexual exploitation. The Journal illustrates the importance of a comprehensive framework for tackling the muti-faceted complexities of commercial sexual exploitation of children. Greater attention and resources must be directed at both ends of the problem – to stop the perpetrators and to heal the life-long consequences of the child’s victimization.
