There is a growing demand internationally that development interventions, including those to assist children on the streets, are based on reliable evidence. This includes counting the exact number of children who live on the streets. Without accurate data, these children have been villainised, abused and pushed further to the margins.
This publication presents Retrak’s guidelines, definitions, and methodologies for enumerating children living on the street. Information and suggestions are also given on how to conduct a defensible, viable enumeration.
