Save the Children Uganda
Overall, NCF activities remain very applicable, and to a larger extent relevant to the needs of parents/caregivers and are in line with the policies and legal frameworks, nationally and globally. Although there are enabling policies from various sectors that support nurturing care activities, there are still mandate conflicts regarding who takes lead at national level. A point of convergence needs to be identified and role of other sectors identified in the adaptation process.
There is still a significant unmet need for nurturing care interventions for children living in conflict zones, in temporary or permanent refugee contexts, in order to ensure the safety and development of young children in high-risk environment.
The ongoing government initiative to have NCF adapted with support from Save the Children at the national level and contextualized for Uganda is one encouraging factor that could support the project’s sustainability.
The NCF project’s sustainability and transition are not clearly outlined, and the process for handing over the project’s facilities was poorly organized without a plan which may be a barrier to ownership and sustainability of the project at community and district level
