Timely vaccinations, particularly within the first six months of life, are seen to be instrumental in reducing the spread of disease that are preventable by vaccines. Full-dose coverage of immunization is one of the key child health strategies supported by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund in child survival.

This report, one of the first of its kind, looks at the development of mobile health technology in providing and supporting health services and reaching underserved populations. One smartphone-based app (Expanded Program on Immunization app) is analyzed for effectiveness on improving the coverage of children’s immunization in rural Sichuan Province, China.
