Save the Children

COVID-19 is a global pandemic that threatens children’s rights in countries around the world and exposes them to a potentially massive disruption to their healthcare, education, access to basic needs and services, and social interactions. It is important to focus on child rights governance during the COVID-19 crisis because:

  • Rights remain in all contexts
  • Importance of understanding children’s lived experiences during COVID-19
  • Children’s ability to be positive agents for change
  • Likelihood of COVID-19 being used by governments as an opportunity to restrict civil rights
  • Potential for the crisis to lead to a reduction in public investment for children

This document serves as additional guidance to the Global COVID-19 Program Framework and Adaptation.
