This impacts children’s physical and mental health, their education, and their quality of life. The consequences are often intergenerational: children who suffered violence are more likely to become violent as adults. These long-term consequences have great impact on a family’s wellbeing.

Presenting the findings of a report commissioned by ChildFund Alliance, this briefing explores a summary of findings on the economic impacts and costs of violence against children. One of their key findings points to the discrepant amount of money countries pay in prevention versus what is paid in handling the aftermath. ‘Prevention pays’ and countries are encouraged to invest in and adapt further ways of preventing violence against children.
