Save the Children Sweden-Ethiopia (SCS Ethiopia) has made the protection of children from physical and humiliating punishment one of its top priority areas of involvement. Research studies have established that physical and humiliating punishment is highly prevalent in Ethiopia and that there is a widespread acceptance of hitting children as a means of discipline. This publication provides reviews of existing research studies on physical and humiliating punishment of children in Ethiopia. The document is prepared to have a well compiled and comprehensive source of information that reflects the magnitude of corporal punishment and its effects on children. It is to serve as a useful resource that indicates knowledge gaps and future potential areas of interventions. The report reviewed nine documents covering the conclusions and recommendations and addressing among others knowledge gaps, strategic research areas, networking potentials and strategies for involving government bodies for total ban of corporal punishment
