The study presents the findings of a rapid and structured scoping literature review on evidence on climate risk solutions tailored to children. It spans six technical sectors and cross-cutting themes, based on literature from 2015 to 2023. Key questions include identifying promising actions, knowledge gaps. The study reviewed the identified approaches to see whether there was evidence of on their acceptability, safety, equity, scalability, cost-effectiveness, local leadership, and child leadership.
The research identified 291 climate risk reduction strategies benefiting children, with the most frequent solutions in food security and livelihood, education, and WASH sectors. Child-responsive actions were common, while child-centred solutions were prevalent in child protection and health sectors. The study highlights the need for stronger evidence, particularly for child-led solutions, and recommends actions in social protection, education, and climate change adaptation. It emphasizes the importance of building a stronger evidence base and documenting current efforts to address climate risks for children.
