This report, co-authored by UNICEF UK and the Institute for Strategic Studies, examines the role of climate change and environmental stress as destabilizers in terms of stability and security for countries where large youth populations will be present in the coming decades.
The report finds that the impacts of climate change, combined with social, economic and political pressures as a result of rapidly-expanding populations will place strain on already unstable governments and social systems. This could thus lead, finds the report, to social unrest, instability, and conflict.
