Save the Children Sweden
Save the Children Sweden (SCS) has been developing a focus on children’s environments, and especially the environments of urban children in low-income countries. As part of SCS’s initial exploration, a number of background documents have been produced, including this report. In its first part, the report describes some of the concepts which recur frequently in an environmental context and in general literature. The second part of the report seeks to reproduce the discourse, i.e. those subjects, problems and issues concerning children and the environment that recur frequently in research and debate, but which also affect other subjects. The purpose is to stimulate discussion and ideas on relevant, local issues, but also on the national and international work that is needed in this area of concern. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child serves here as an organising framework in reviewing the relationship between children and their environment
