This quarterly brief, Children on the Move in Greece: July–September 2026, developed by Save the Children and the Greek Council for Refugees, examines recent trends and protection concerns affecting children on the move in Greece.
More than 28,000 people arrived in Greece seeking protection by late September 2026. Children arriving in hotspots such as Crete continue to face inadequate reception conditions, delays in accessing asylum procedures, and barriers to critical child protection safeguards.
The brief concludes with policy recommendations to ensure that the Greek Government upholds child protection safeguards and children’s rights.
