The purpose of this research is to understand the socio-cultural and economic factors that promote and/or maintain the practice of CEFMU in Afro-Colombian and indigenous communities in the municipality of Riohacha in La Guajira.
Save the children Colombia collaborated with Fuerza de Mujeres indigenous & Mata ‘e Pelo, two community base organizations in La Guajira composed of women leaders, who have been working in the community for many years.
Both organizations (Mata ‘e Pelo for Afro-Colombian women and Fuerza de Mujeres for indigenous women) work in the defense of the rights of women and girls from an intersectional perspective and have developed work with schools and communities, mostly on issues of rights and sexual and reproductive health.
The information collected was used only for research and training purposes following the ethical approval from each organization and the country.
Were approached to know their opinions, knowledge and experiences regarding CEFMU.
