Bintou and the Climate Trouble (Ages 13–17)
Bintou and the Climate Trouble Child Friendly booklet explore how climate change affects children’s rights across Africa. Through a clear narrative and accessible explanations, it introduces the scientific basis of climate change and illustrates its consequences for essential rights such as access to clean water, nutritious food, education, healthcare, and safety. The booklet also demonstrates why African children are disproportionately affected, despite contributing minimally to the causes of climate change. Drawing real data and examples, it highlights inequalities and identifies groups of children who face heightened risks, including displaced children, girls, and children with disabilities. By presenting these issues in an engaging and age-appropriate manner, the booklet aims to equip young readers with the knowledge and confidence to advocate for their rights and contribute to climate solutions.
The Climate Kid Crew and Our Amazing Earth (Ages 6–12)
This child-friendly booklet introduces young readers to climate change through the adventures of four friends in the town of Upepo. Using simple language, illustrations, and interactive activities, it explains the difference between weather and climate, how human actions create greenhouse gases, and how climate change leads to heatwaves, floods, and droughts. The story highlights how these changes affect children’s rights, such as access to clean water, food, education, health, and safety, and shows that some children face greater risks than others. By blending storytelling with facts, the booklet empowers children to become “Planet Heroes” encouraging them to take meaningful steps in protecting both the environment and their rights.
