Bata at Bahaghari: Experiences of LGBT children in the Philippines

In April 2016, ASEAN SOGIE caucus and the Civil Society Coalition on the Convention on the Rights of the Child joined together to hold a workshop titled “Bata at Bahaghari: Children’s Workshop on the Rights of LGBT Children.” The aim of the workshop was to discuss how child rights groups can better include LGBTQ children. The discussion points from the workshop are included in this paper.

The recommendations gathered from the meeting include:

1. Encouraging dialogue towards an inclusive child rights framework;

2. Make LGBT issues concrete and actionable in the organization’s projects and policies;

3. Make children a part of the organization’s LGBT advocacy.
