Save the Children International
This research examines how Save the Children offices are advancing localisation by comparing different operating models across various contexts. Save the Children defines localisation as a process to increase the leadership and authority of local and national actors so they can best identify and address priorities within their communities for maximum impact with and for children. The study used a mixed methods approach, including interviews with multiple Save the Children offices and partners, to understand shifts in impact, revenue, and operational models in the last five years and their plans for the future. Findings highlight the importance of equitable partnerships, clear localisation strategies, and diversified impact roles. Challenges include aligning donor funding with localisation goals and managing operational costs during the transition to locally-led models. The research provides recommendations for enhancing localisation efforts and supporting sustainable change for children.
