This article builds on Save the Children Norway’s ‘thematic evaluation’ on children’s participation in armed conflict, post conflict and peace building, and also on work and written material by the external consultants Clare Feinstein and Claire O’Kane.
The evaluation includes research and documentation of children’s experiences from armed conflicts as well as their reflections, opinions and proposals. It addresses children’s experiences from, and their visions and planning for peace, and in this way it gives children and young people an opportunity to go beyond the situation of violence and despair, to creating hopes and making plans for a better future. While evaluating and documenting, children have also been supported in their peace building initiatives.
