At the time of writing, approximately 200 million children suffer from stunting or wasting worldwide. Worldwide hunger is estimated to be moderate, but it is evident that the COVID-19 pandemic has undermined food and nutrition security for many. The impacts of the pandemic is also likely to ripple into the future. In addition to this, data show that the world is not on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal to achieve zero hunger by 2030.
The 2020 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report presents a multidimensional measure of global, regional, and national hunger. It is based on GHI scores from 117 countries, and shows that we still have a long way to go to end hunger.
