At the start of 2024, we unveiled our exciting plans in the article "What's New for the Resource Centre in 2024?". Inspired by your feedback from the 2023 survey, we aimed to make the Resource Centre more intuitive, engaging, and impactful. Now, as the year wraps up, we reflect on our journey. How did we do? Spoiler alert: There were a few bumps along the way!
Merging collections – Reimagining how collections work. We upgraded the collections feature to simplify its use and give you more control. Now, you can add collaborators, transfer ownership, and add documents independently. You will get email notifications for collaboration invites, removals, and ownership transfers. You can also request to feature your collection on the platform for greater visibility. Enjoy a simpler, more autonomous ride!
Bulk upload optimization – Add your contributions with ease. We enhanced the bulk upload feature for better data quality, enabling faster and more precise content migration. If you work for an organization that would like to see their child rights knowledge represented on the Resource Centre, reach out to us! We are proud to feature a wide variety of resources from a range of publishers on the platform.
Auto-detect Language – Your multilingual co-pilot. Inclusion is key to our platform. We have added auto-language detection to sync the Resource Centre with your preferred language navigation, making it more accessible and personalized for all users.
Data Dashboard (beta) – Measure impact. This summer, we piloted the Data Dashboard to show our users how resources are accessed over time. You can see views from the last month, three months, six months, and historical views. It’s great for donor reporting, or if you are a numbers nerd like us, just enjoying the data. Explore the Data Dashboard here!
Tabular view for search results – Discover diverse content. Addressing this specific issue expressed by users, we have made it easier to find collections, articles, and toolkits, by adding a tabular view to the search results page. This means quicker, more efficient searching, without endless scrolling. We know that your time is precious, so we paved the way for a smoother search experience.
Abstract Guidance on Upload Form – Get published quicker. To help you avoid writer’s block, we have added instructions to the upload form. Clearer abstracts mean faster processing and publishing by the curating team. Helping you reach your destination faster. It’s a win-win!
Beyond development work, we are proud to collaborate with sector experts, ensuring that the knowledge on the Resource Centre keeps pace with the evolving child rights landscape.
Increasing diversity in knowledge – Equality in Action: We teamed up with experts to spotlight progress on the rights of children with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) in the article Equality in Action. With that, we also made a concentrated effort to increase the share of SOGIESC resources available on the platform, adding reports from trailblazing rights-based organizations such as the ASEAN SOGIE Caucus and the Global Philanthropy Project.
Responding to real-world needs – The IYCF-E Curriculum: We improved the toolkit function, packaging key programmatic resources for direct use on the ground. The updated Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) Curriculum, which was developed with the technical expertise of the Infant Feeding in Emergencies Core Group, is one such example.
Paving new paths – Building partnerships and expanding resources: In 2024, we significantly expanded our repository by adding 1802 new resources (!), thanks to the indispensable contributions from our users and our ongoing collaborations across the sector. Your engagement ensures that the Child Rights Resource Centre stays on the right path, navigating the ever-changing road of child rights.
In 2024, changes in the child rights landscape have influenced the resources visitors seek in the library. The most accessed material from the past year is Save the Children’s report, Trapped and Scarred: The Compounding Mental Harm Inflicted on Palestinian Children in Gaza.

Our 2024 journey was an adventure! From navigating unexpected detours to cruising down smooth highways, here are our top learnings:
Agile Working is Our Pit Stop Strategy: Agile ways of working was like having a well-planned pit stop strategy. It allowed us to make quick adjustments, refuel, and get back on track efficiently. We had to re-prioritize some items in our plan (such as delaying mobile optimization and mixed media display) to reflect our team capacity. But do not worry, these items are still marked as stops on our map and will be revisited in 2025. The author profile pilot is currently underway and will be available to select users early next year.
Maintenance is Key: Platform maintenance is like fine-tuning a vehicle. By optimizing existing functionalities, we reduced “drag” and improved platform efficiency. This means we can go further with less effort, ensuring a smoother and faster experience for our users.
Accountability is key in delivering a platform that responds to the knowledge needs of child rights champions. What do you think about the 2024 upgrades to the platform? What upgrades have been the most helpful in your work? Have we delivered on our promise to make the Resource Centre more intuitive, engaging, and impactful?
Share your thoughts, we are eager to hear them!
Buckle up and join us as we continue this exciting journey into the next year. Who knows what adventures await on the open road?
See you in 2025,
The Resource Centre Team
