This paper analyzes youth vulnerabilities, with an emphasis on developing countries. It looks at heightened vulnerabilities in life transitions due to extreme, life-threatening circumstances (political violence, armed conflict, etc.). Life transitions are defined as being normally experienced by youth, linked to school, work, partnership, and parenthood.

Produced by the United Nations Development Programme, this paper draws on a large range of secondary resources, including life course analysis from Young Lives. It concludes by highlighting implications for policy making.
