Young People's Engagement in Strengthening Accountability for the Post-2015 Agenda

The experience of young people’s engagement in development efforts during the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) suggests that in order to effectively address global challenges, the post-2015 framework should be underpinned by effective accountability mechanisms at all levels. From local to global, these mechanisms must respond to the rights and needs of those most affected and take into account their views and voices.

Children should be provided meaningful platforms for participation, particularly those most marginalized. This requires creation of formal and informal mechanisms, based on principles of inclusion, accessibility, collaboration, and responsiveness.
