What you think! How to establish and get involved with Shadow Youth Councils

This publication grew out of Save the Children's belief that the short history of Shadow Youth Councils in Northern Ireland (and longer established examples from further afield) has proved them to be more than just a ‘good idea'. But like all "good ideas" Shadow Youth Councils need support if they are to develop to their fullest potential and if local government Councils are to derive the greatest benefit from their association with them. This pack includes information on youth participation, consultation and the benefits and impact of Shadow Youth Councils; sets out standards and examples of good practice for developing, establishing and running Shadow Youth Councils and planning what it is that they do; and, 3. makes suggestions about other places to go for information on particular topics that interest you.
