Many children in Borno State and Northeast Nigeria are risking not receiving an education. A lack of education, and subsequently a loss of job opportunities, has the potential of fueling additional cycles of violence and forced migration in the region. Donors and implementing agencies must prioritise funding for conflict-sensitive emergency education in order to prevent this impending future.

This qualitative study sets out to investigate, through consultations with stakeholders at all levels, how the conflict has impacted the education of children in Borno State, Nigeria. The research aimed to better understand the underlying factors denying so many children their right to education and the response to date, and to make recommendations on national and international action.
